Creating a Derived Requirement

Last updated: December 19, 2025

Instead of creating a requirement from scratch, Flow allows you to derive a Requirement from an existing one.

Start by clicking the check box to the left of any requirement.

Press the ^ Actions button that appears at the bottom of the screen.

Select the -> Create Derived Requirement option.

Choose any Project and System to create the Requirement in.

The up-to-date Requirement ID, Requirement Name, and Requirement Statement of the Source Requirement will be embedded in the Requirement Statement of the newly created one. This approach leverages existing data to streamline the creation process and maintain consistency across projects.

By default, the Derived Requirement will be Cross-Linked to it's Source Requirement.

Once the Derived Requirement is defined and saved, you can find it in your local system.
